Barber: Medea’s Dance of Vengeance Orff: Carmina Burana
“If I could only take one piece of music on a long trip, I might pick Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. [It offers] something for everyone—and a piece of music for every mood imaginable.” – Marin Alsop
You know you’re in for something spectacular with one of the best-known works of the last century, Carl Orff’s spine-tingling Carmina Burana. From its use in film soundtracks to ads, its appeal is unequivocal, and with over 300 performers, its magnitude in live performance is stunning. The concert opens with another setting of ancient text, Medea’s Dance of Vengeance, one of Barber’s most alluring works.
