Marin Alsop, conductor
John Adams: Fearful Symmetries
Mahler: Symphony No. 5
In a program marking the Maestra’s inaugural concerts as Music Director, the BSO opens its 2007-08 season with two monumental works for orchestra. Turbulent and angry, peaceful and plaintive in turn, the emotional scope and breadth of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony will leave you transformed. Composed nearly a century later, the performance also showcases John Adams’ Fearful Symmetries, a pulsating aerobic work full of kinetic energy.
*FREE concert pre-lecture. Visit BSOmusic.org for details.
This concert will be broadcast LIVE on XM Classics, XM Radio.
