SIBELIUS Finlandia SIBELIUS Violin Concerto SMETANA The Moldau COPLAND Lincoln Portrait
The young violin marvel Sandy Cameron, a National Philharmonic favorite, helps usher in the 2007-2008 season with a performance of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. Commemorating the great Finish hero’s death 50 years ago, the Philharmonic also presents his ever-popular Finlandia. The flowing Moldau from The Fatherland evokes great Czech imagery. The concert culminates with Copland’s uniquely American, Lincoln Portrait, with special guest narrator, County Executive Isiah Leggett.
