Join the acclaimed University of North Carolina at Greensboro Wind Ensemble for a performance at the Music Center at Strathmore. This concert will feature the internationally renowned Herald Trumpets of the U.S. Army Band and world premieres of two compositions, Shadow Dance by David Dzubay, and Four Factories by Carter Pann.
The 60-member UNC-Greensboro Wind Ensemble has achieved a distinguished record of performance. The ensemble has performed at Lincoln Center in New York City and to a capacity crowd of 2,700 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The group has repeatedly earned critical acclaim from The Washington Post following concerts in the nation's capital. The fourteen commercially available compact discs recorded by the UNCG Wind Ensemble have received widespread praise and the ensemble is very active in collaborating with composers through the commissioning of new works. The Wind Ensemble has performed at numerous conferences and conventions throughout the country, including the 2005 international convention of the Society of Composers, Inc., and has recently hosted guests including Pulitzer-prize winner Karel Husa, David Dzubay, Scott Lindroth, and Carter Pann.
