Founded in 1961 as the Oratorio Society of Washington, the Washington Chorus is noted for its stellar and critically-acclaimed performances and recordings of the entire range of the choral repertoire. TWC won a GRAMMY Award in 2000 for Best Choral Performance of the Year for its live-performance recording of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem. In addition to its recordings, the 200-voice Chorus considers its many education and community outreach initiatives an integral component of its mission.
World-renowned tenor Carl Tanner joins this festive holiday program with highlights from his new Christmas CD. TWC has a rich tradition of supporting and supplementing the music programs in area high schools and welcomes its 2006-2007 Side by Side high school partner chorus, the Westfield High School Chamber Singers from Chantilly, VA. The Chamber Singers will join TWC for the second half of the program.
