Pianist Brian Ganz is joined by National Philharmonic Principal Trumpeter Chris Gekker for Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 as part of an evening that celebrates the 150th anniversary of England’s pride, Sir Edward Elgar, the 100th anniversary of Russia’s Shostakovich and the 70th birthday of Maryland native Philip Glass. Pachelbel’s beloved Canon and two Mozart divertimentos round out the program.
