Appearing in Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 are Russian soloists, the “radiant” (Classics Today) soprano Tatiana Pavlovskaya, and “a real find” (Fanfare), bass Nikolai Didenko. “Music is the shorthand of emotion.” —Leo Tolstoy
