Commonly regarded as a cornerstone of the standard operatic repertoire, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro is based on a play penned by Beaumarchais. The hilarious plot mocks aristocratic customs and morals, while winding the audience through the trials and tribulations of all those affected by a misguided Count who imposes his selfish desires on his servant, Susanna (much to the dismay of Susanna and her betrothed, Figaro). Dean Elzinga - “mesmerizing dramatic intensity” (New York Times), in the title role is joined by the “magnetic” (The Houston Chronicle) Leon Williams, Esther Heideman - “think: Beverly Sills” (The New York Times), Valerie Komar - “tour-de-force performance” (New York Times), Mark Freiman - “a virtuoso performance” (The Washington Post), “rich, potent contralto” (Philadelphia Inquirer) Edith Dowd, and “commanding tenor” (The Washington Post) Colin Eaton.
