The godfather of go-go and the founding fathers of funk—all in one get-up-and-groove concert! The Washington Post calls Chuck Brown “as important to our city as that tall monument down on the mall.” Brown exploded onto the music scene in 1971 with his first hit “We The People”—and created a new music that blends Latin beats, African call-andresponse chants, American jazz, and a touch of soul, all propelled by a continuous drumbeat. The legendary New Orleans band The Funky Meters, featuring Art Neville, George Porter, Jr., Russell Batiste, Jr., and Brian Stoltz, built their trademark sound in the ‘60s and ‘70s, blending blues and dance grooves with a Big Easy vibe. Two irresistible sounds—get your tickets and get ready to dance!
This performance is scheduled to last 120+ minutes, with an intermission.
