CLASSICAL THURSDAYS
Jonathan Carney, leader Christian Blackshaw, piano
Christian Blackshaw’s mastery of Mozart so moved listeners in his 2003 Baltimore debut that Yuri Temirkanov asked him to Strathmore this season to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, celebrating the composer’s 250th birthday. This all-Mozart program also includes the “Haffner” Symphony and the Symphony No. 25.
PLEASE NOTE: The Baltimore Symphony regrets to announce that Maestro Yuri Temirkanov has cancelled his remaining concert with the Orchestra this month, March 23 at the Music Center at Strathmore. Following the death of his dear friend, composer Andrei Petrov, Temirkanov remains unable to travel from his home in St. Petersburg, Russia.
A consummate leader, BSO Concertmaster Jonathan Carney has graciously agreed to step in and lead the orchestra in the All-Mozart program from his seat on stage. The program for these concerts remains unchanged.
